Our non-profit organization was founded in 2011 bringing awareness to the ever- prevalent issue of homelessness in The City of Atlanta, Georgia. We strive to be an organization focused on housing homeless, veterans, and the felons. Our vision centers around the need of society to addressing those individuals who have been incarcerated either directly or indirectly because of an addiction to alcohol or drugs. We have a commitment to the restoration of lives that have been destroyed by addiction. It is our philosophy that addicts should be given the opportunity to recover from their addiction.
We recognize the critical role of each addict to do the hard work required for recovery and to make good decisions moving forward. We provide the tools and an environment that supports and fosters their recovery goals.
The Faith Project is a collaboration of like minded and strong willed people. Or team compromises of volunteers and full time people who generously give their time to advance opportunities for the homeless in Atlanta. We work hard to manage all elements of volunteering either within the community or on behalf of other organizations for which we align with.
Growth has enabled volunteer coordinators to work alongside specialists in other fields, develop new skills and establish programs to meet the needs of other sectors with different approaches and outlooks towards volunteering.
In recent years, we have gained increased recognition as an organization who makes a difference. As more organizations and companies are placing an emphasis on giving something back to the local community, often in the form of employee volunteering, more opportunities are becoming available across different aspects of helping the homelessness problem in Atlanta.
Leader of The Faith Project, Lakeisha Wilson is a natural born servant. Her niche to nurture was inspired by growing up in a family who welcomed foster children. Wilson’s family demonstrated love, care, and empathy to Lakeisha at an early age, boosting her to give to those less fortunate.
Raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia, Wilson continued her education in-state pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Fort Valley State University in public relations. With a passion for people, she began volunteering for various organizations that helped homeless adults and children.
Eventually joining the Board of Directors for Atlanta Outreach Project, her tenure afforded her the experience and expertise to move forward with her own organization. In time, an encouraging friend provided enough confidence for Lakeisha to begin The Faith Project, Inc.
In its birthing stages, The Faith Project aided fellow charities with tangible donations and other resources. Arranging one of the largest annual events catered to the displaced community with “Christmas in July”. The joint initiatives of Lakeisha & The Faith Project have been featured in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, CBS News, and VH1 network.
With a master’s degree in project management, Wilson manifested her mission to serve by growing The Faith Project from a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to a government funded housing facility for individuals experiencing homelessness, rehabilitation, or transitioning from imprisonment.
